About the event

SHIDAXING/TEN LARGE SHAPES TEN ANIMALS - SIX PRINCIPLES

The oldest of the so-called "Internal Martial Arts", Shidaxing or the Ten Great [Animals] forms, has been around for almost four hundred years and has hardly changed in that time. Dan Vercammen was the first Westerling who discovered and started practicing this martial art in Shanghai in 1985. It's a spicy, very efficient martial art with roots in Taoist alchemy and military training from the Song, Yuan and Ming periods (10th to 17th centuries). Through single techniques, which lead to longer sets of movements can be combined, the practitioner gets quick access to the core of the training. The movements of ten animals (dragon, tiger, horse, rooster, monkey, snake, swallow, sparrowhawk, bear and eagle) are the inspiration for the Shidaxing techniques.

Powerful and elegant techniques serve to defend yourself, improve your health and increase your resilience, and to be spiritually alchemical work. In these two workshops, we will start from a thorough explanation of six original, fundamental training principles to practice techniques of each of the ten animals. Thus, the lessons encompass both the theory and the practice handed down by the old masters. A unique opportunity to great martial art to explore.
