TASC is a center of scientific research on Taoist subjects and internal alchemy in particular. It organizes conferences on Chinese culture and publishes books and articles through China Arts. TASC co-operates on a formal/informal basis with other scientific and Taoist institutes and individuals in Belgium and abroad (Ghent University, Leyden University, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Suzhou and Jiangsu Taoist Association, Hangzhou Chinese Academy of Fine Arts, etc.). TASC also advises on Taoist and Chinese medical issues and its qualified staff can offer Taoist medical treatment. A vast private library of Taoist literature and Chinese subjects collected by Professor Dr. D.K.J. Vercammen and A. Woestenborghs, MTA, is available to China Arts College students.  We also have an impressive collection of photographs and other visual media and Taoist artifacts. We have been carrying out participating anthropological research in China since 1985 and have met many Taoist masters and other interesting informants. Prof. Vercammen has lectured in China on internal alchemy and is recognized as one of the world’s leading experts in this field of study. He is not only a theoretician and scholar of Taoist alchemy but is actually a skilled expert in the Southern Yinyang tradition of Jindan Dao (Golden Cinnabar  Alchemy) and the internal martial arts.
