Ph.D. Oriental Languages and Philosophy (Ghent University, Belgium). Anthropologist.

Vercammen studied Ancient Chinese Philosophy at Fudan University (Shanghai, 1985-1986), as well as Internal Martial Arts (neijiaquan) at Shanghai Sports University (Shanghai Tiyu Xueyuan) and Shanghai Jingwu Tiyu Hui; Chinese Traditional en Taoist Medicine, Internal Alchemy (neidan) with several masters/physicians (a.o. dr. Li Genghe, Head Department Chinese Internal Medicine, Xiehe Hospital (Shanghai) and Professor at Shanghai Medical College; dr. Fu Qinglong, alchemist, private physician Taoist Medicine and Massage (tuina-anmo), Grandmaster of Qigong and Neijiaquan, Hangzhou); Baguazhang with Grandmaster Li Ziming (Beijing) and Xingyiquan with Grandmasters Cai Longyun en Zhou Minde (Shanghai)).

Ph.D. dissertation on “Neijiaquan (taijiquan, baguazhang, xingyiquan), the Internal School of Chinese Martial Arts and Qigong: History, Philosophy and Practice” (Ghent University, 1990, summa cum laude/highest degree).

Organizer of the “International Conference on Taoism and Chinese Medicine”, Universities of Antwerp and Ghent and TASC, 1992 and 1995.

Presented papers at the “International Conference on Wushu Tradition and the Modern World” (Moscow, 1990), “International Conference on Taoism” (Guangzhou, China, 1998), “International Conference on Jindan (Internal Alchemy)” at Wuyishan (China, 1999)...

Author of many publications on Chinese Medicine, Taoism and Martial Arts.

Anthropological fieldwork in China on Taoist Medicine and Internal Alchemy.

Practitioner of Taoist Medicine and Chinese Psychotherapy.

One of the very few people who engage in both fundamental scientific research and the practice of Taoism.

Taoist (alchemist’s) names: Danningzi (Master of the Concentrated Cinnabar) and Pingwu Daoren.

Researcher and practitioner of Chinese Fine Arts (artistic name: Fei Lingbi or Lingbizi).

Dan Vercammen is also a poet, a web designer and a watercolor/pastel painter.

Studied physical education (PE Teachers Normal University in Hasselt, Belgium)

Worked as PE teacher in secondary schools for many years.

Studied many kinds of dance, mime and visual media.

Personal student of Prof. Dr. D.K.J. Vercammen, Li Ziming and Dr. Fu Qinglong.

Chairwoman of the Belgian Taoist Association and CHINA ARTS.

Director Antwerp Cultural Council.

Co-organizer and coordinator of conferences and seminars.

Assistant to Vercammen: responsible for anthropological photographic and video reference material.

Not satisfied with the superficial effects of Western Physical Culture, she began a quest for the essence of “movement”. She studied ancient and modern dance, mime and Chinese martial arts and health exercises. She eventually found what she was looking for in Taoist practices.

As an artist she specializes in photography and (graphic/interior/book) design.
